My second poetry slam

This management course has come to an end
Allowing us to have expereince a trend
In hopes that someday we become obsess
In only becoming the best

This class was insightful
This class was much fun
The discussions were wonderful
But glad that it's done

The class was aggressive
The blogs were impressive
We helped each other think, create and cope
Sharing frustrations, dreams and hopes

With all I have gain and all I can contribute
I have many reasons for thanks and to tribute

We've established our visions
We've developed our missions
Let's pursue an approach
Without letting go

As we strive to succeed
And expect much rewards
Let this management course
Set a road to our dreams
And enjoy these diversions
into extremes.

Poetry Slam

From start to end

this course was fierce

And now the end is near

I'm glad for the friends I made

although the lectures in time will fade

The experience will last forever

I'm ready to proceed to the next level

Good luck to all you ladies and gents

As we say farewell to management.

Communicating via Blog

Throughout the semester the blog assignments were a great tool of communication. It allowed us to exchange information while also giving us feedback from fellow classmates. The blogs encouraged us to confer knowledge and experiences, give advice as well as ask questions. I considered it a good way for social communication and improvement. They were a way of transmitting thoughts, ideas and feelings. This was the first time I have been instructed to do such an assignment and in my personal opinion I enjoyed it quite a bit. So indeed, it was an interesting way of a communicating channel out of class. I personally did not benefit from meeting others online which might have translated into communicating in class. I did enjoy reading my fellow classmates profiles and their perspectives on certain issues discussed during class. It definitely contributed to my thinking, evolving class activity to be translated through my blogs. We all have different approaches to certain situations and it's always interesting to hear what others feel and think. Through the eyes of others you are more able to rationalize at times. The prof's blogs were quite an attention getter. I did like how he used characters to make relations to our management course. Made it seem cool. It sort of made it more appealing and enjoyable to read. These blogs were created as a sense of contributing to some part of our overall grading which I find very helpful and considerate on the prof's part. It motivated us and encouraged us to want to do these blogs on time as it would give us a boost in our grades. I did not find it a problem to post my blog assignments on time. I wish all my classes had been like this. I always looked forward to knowing what the next topic would be. This class overall was very entusiastic, very interactive and outgoing. There was never a boring moment. Though as much as I might have enjoyed the blog posting I do not think that I will continue to post anything else. This will probably be my last posting unless the prof's adds one last one.
My feedback to the prof's: I truly think that these blogs should remain a component to this course. It helps evolve your communication skills as we express our different level of opinions and characters. I am almost sure that anyone else taking this course will benefit and enjoy this course criteria. Great course!!!!!

DISC

My Leadership/Management Diagnostic test came out to reflect me as "Steadiness" followed by "Conscientiousness." I was a bit skeptical about the accuracy of this test. But after having taking the test I was in awe. To my surprise "Steadiness" is indeed a mere reflection of the person that I stand to be. The tendencies described are 100% the person that I am in my work environment and pretty much in my personal life as well. Overall this turned ou tto be a "true" diagnostic test which deserves to be given great and in depth consideration by those looking to improve their managemtn and leadership skills. I can state with certainty that I have a steady approach to life. I have always been a patient, undemanding, often showing sympathy for and loyalty to those around me. To most these characteristics might perceive to be weaknesses while for me it has evolved and developed to be strengths in being able to adjust in given situations.
Do I wish that I were another type, like a "D" or an "I"? Presumably not. These two other characteristics would not define me as a person and forcing them in me would not be to my advantage. They would only result in negative outputs and uncomfortableness to me. Do I consider this to be a good test? After much consideration I absolutely think that it is. As it helps understand and define the different approaches of managemtn in a given environment. Can this test be applied in personal matters such as dating? I don't see why not? It might be an awesome idea. Making people more compatible and fitting them with others that are similar or close to proximity as they are. I can conclude by saying that the validity of this test is measurable and to most aspects proven...as it described me to the fullest!!!!!

The Power of Vision

I have always had a vision in life but sort of like never persuade it with determination and confidence. I knew exactly what and where I wanted to go but never took the appropriate measures in seeing my plans unfold gradually. It wasn't till a couple of years ago that I took control of my thoughts, experiences, knowledge, and decided to put into play my visions with a force of positive motivation, fortitude and strength of mind as opposed to fear, negativity and procrastination.
1. My greatest vision right now is to complete my degree in accounting within the next two years. This would be the most gratifying accomplishment for me. This is the one thing I had put my heart out to do but with no avail. There were times of discouragement that prohibited me from fulfilling these goals. As the years pass me by I became aware that if I did not take full force or action in life I would never get there. I figured that I should make all the sacrifices now that I have all the time in the world. With plenty of dedication and perseverance and a more mature insight in life I will see that I make this vision possible. There will not be any distractions that will divert me from the road I have set to follow.
2. My next vision is to be able to land a good job that will compliment my expertise and degree. I am in hopes of landing a job in a credible accounting firm which is why I decided to go back to school. So basically visions #1 & #2 will sort of unfold simultaneously. One without the other will be of no use to me. My 11 years experience will be a ticket in but the degree will be the ultimate security of foreseeing that this occurs.
3. Once I have been able to succesfully reached #1 & #2 I want to be able to own my first new car. With the degree in hand and a good paying job I can accomplish this easily. This will be my compensation after years of hard work.
4. The last vision that comes to mind after completing the first 3 will have to be traveling to an extravagant place. I want to be able to explore new sights & cultures for an extended amount of time. This will definitely happen with great ease and I will be able to indulge myself with the finest things in life!!!!!!!!!!! The completion of these visions will lead me to much happiness

Decision Making

The class activity we had on the decision making process was a very complicated, interesting, and chaotic experience. First of all, I personally was all for it since my exam grade wasn't that great. So to hear that it would be curve and certain criterias given by the students and approved by the professor would definitely benefit me in enhancing my grade. It kind of lifted my spirits a bit. To me it was a scenario well given that not only myself could benefit from but others as well. All I was interested in was to have the chance to bring my grade up but at the same time be fair and considerate with any requests and outcomes that it might lead to. As it was something that wasn't only for one particular individaul but more as a group. The class at first seem like they were willing to put this proposition together and that it would be a success. As the propositions progress it became a complete mess. It became disorderly, very conflicting and I for one thought this is it we are blowing our chances. For something that seem so simply or started out as so turned out to be one difficult task. More so with the students going against each other. Everyone was thinking of themselves, self interest...and not given in to those that actually needed this proposition to have a better turn about in their grades. It seem unfair, very inconsiderate on some of my fellow classmates. Why make it so hard for those who weren't as fortunate to get the best of grades to enjoy the bargaining and gain something out of it. There were to many inner conflicts I would have to say. It came to a point during this class activity that I just kind of withdrew from the whole discussion. I completely gave up thinking that there would not be a fair agreement accomplished by the end of the class. I just sat back and said to myself it is what it is, and if for some reason we get no where then I just would have to accept it and deal with my actual grade and just try to do better the next time. To me it was more the negative feedback from other students that kind of shut me out of the whole discussion. I was thankful though that towards the end we finally came up with a decision that not only benefitted me but the class as a whole. Do I think that it could've been conducted different, I certainly think so and maybe the turn about would've been less dramatic. There was to much anger, anomosity amongst students. There was a lack of respect. Which to me is number one. Why can't everyone say their points and be heard instead of quickly assuming that your points are not valid. We are different individuals with different aspects in every day activities and because of it we should be more readily to listen and reach an ultimate goal that will make everyone a winner one way or another...

Eggs-cellent Way to Plan

The egg class activity I found very fascinating. I was very fortunate to have had a very cooperative, willing and determined team. Because we were limited in time we immediately set our objectives and identified how to accomplish our goal. We came up with two ideas. We discussed each scenerio and agreed that one was more effective then the other. Once we laid our ideas out we then sketched a picture of how we would put it into progress and how it should look once it was finished. Though we had limited supplies we manage to do just great with the eight straws and the piece of tape that had been supplied. What might've seem impossible in a matter of minutes became possible with the support of the whole team. We didn't disagree much and we let everyone suggest any ideas without overlooking the other. Thanks to a job well done from my group. Way to go guys!!!!! Our "egg" survived the test!!!!!
